Saskatoon Police are investigating two attempted armed robberies that occurred over the weekend.

At approximately 2:00 a.m. on Feb. 17, two males wearing masks entered a restaurant in the 700 block of Central Avenue and demanded money armed with what appeared to be a hammer and a knife. The victim, a 67-year-old male employee, was able to defend himself and the suspects fled the restaurant without any cash.

Just 15 minutes later a second incident occurred at a restaurant in the 3500 block of 8th Street East. The victim reported that a lone male entered the store armed with a hammer and a knife and attempted to open the cash register. The 23-year-old male employee was able to defend himself and the lone suspect fled empty-handed.

The suspects are both described as Caucasian males. The first suspect is described as approximately 6'1" and wearing a blue down-filled jacket and blue jeans. The second suspect was approximately 5'10" and wearing a dark jacket with a hood and light blue jeans.

Police are investigating the possibility that these two incidents are related.

Anyone with information on these incidents is asked to contact Saskatoon Police at 975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
