Saskatchewan Roughriders' Mullinder traded to Alouettes
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have made a trade to bring in some help at receiver.
Saskatchewan has traded defensive end Luc Mullinder to the Montreal Alouettes, for import receiver Dallas Baker.
"It's a production business and we weren't getting enough production in a couple of areas and we felt that this move would help us maybe address a couple of those," said Roughriders head coach Greg Marshall.
Mullinder has spent all eight seasons of his CFL career with the Roughriders and has never been able to become a regular starter on the team. Earlier this season, Mullinder was removed from his starting role at defensive end but worked his way back into the starting line-up over the last couple of weeks.
2010 CFL Draft first overall pick Shomari Williams may now be looked at taking over a bigger role with the team.
"Shomari's been playing really well and this could give him an opportunity to get on the field a little more and we felt like his progress on the defensive side of the ball as well as his special teams allowed us to consider this move."
As for Baker, he's is in his first year in the CFL, grabbing three passes for 29 yards. He's expected to be at practice on Tuesday.
