The Roughriders are making some changes at defensive back for the home opener on Sunday.

One move is being forced because of an injury to defensive back Tristan Jackson. Head Coach Corey Chamblin said Friday that Jackson has injured his knee, and will be replaced in the line up by Terrell Maze. The good news is Jackson's injury isn't serious, they just want to be cautious with it.

Meanwhile, defensive back Woodny Turenne, who joined the Roughriders on Thursday, will make his green and white debut against Edmonton, replacing Nick Graham. Something that might be a surprise considering last weeks win.

"We might have won the game," said Chamblin. "But at the same time, there's always need for improvement, so we have to make that improvement whether it's win or a loss."

Turenne will only have two practices and a walk through under his belt come Sunday afternoon, but he's not worried about that.

"It's been part of my life, my whole life, playing football," said Turenne.

What will help Turenne is knowing a fair bit about the system already, since he played for Chamblin last season in Hamilton.

"Especially with his techniques, and the way he goes about things," said Turenne.

Chamblin isn't concerned either.

"I knew what Woodny can do, I know how he plays, and I know what his mind set is," said Chamblin.

That doesn't mean Turenne will be able to jump on the field with a firm understanding of everything, he does say he will have to work on being fast and focused, something Chamblin has preached since day one.

Even though Turenne is playing on Sunday, that doesn't mean we've seen the end of Graham.

"He has to continue to prove that hey, it is his spot," said Chamblin. "It's going to be a battle, I never want to pit two guys against each other, but we're looking for the best guy at the best spot."
