Road conditions improving but visibility still poor
The blowing snow warnings have ended, but conditions are still not great on highways around Regina.
There are still travel advisories out for highway 1 west of Regina all the way to Moose Jaw. That stretch of highway is back open after being closed overnight but travel is not recommended. There are also warnings out for the area south of Moose Jaw around Beechy, along with Highway 11 from Davidson to Dundurn and highway 219 south of Saskatoon.
Conditions change rapidly so check the Highway Hotline before heading out.
Anita Friesen is with the Highway Hotline, and she says there are crews out on the roads trying to keep up.
“For the most part when they can they will be clearing them – grading off the snow drifts and treating the roads where possible but they can only do so much,” she explained.
Friesen is warning drivers to stay back from plows and take it slow because visibility is still poor.
