PotashCorp is donating $500,000 to the Saskatoon Trades and Skills Centre.

CEO Bill Doyle predicts a large return on investment.

“It’s important for us because we have the need. We’re going to be hiring quite a few people and we need those people with the skills that this organization provides. It’s just a win-win situation for young people and for us,” said Doyle.

He says the donation comes just in time. PotashCorp is expanding operations across Saskatchewan and is looking to fill hundreds of permanent jobs.

Graduate Logan McGillis says the donation will help grow the next generation of workers.

“They give you all the training you possibly need, all the essential skills, all the gear that you need: coveralls, workboots, everything like that, and basically all you need to do is show up,” said McGillis.

CEO Bill Doyle says it will also help fast track their recruitment process.

“It’s a great way to retain workers and provides a wonderful future for people to come be with us, raise their families, and have a better life.”

Doyle expects several hundred grads will join PotashCorp ahead of operational expansions across Saskatchewan.
