The state funeral for Saskatchewan trailblazer Sylvia Fedoruk drew over 600 mourners at the TCU Place Friday afternoon.

Among the guests and speakers were former premiers Roy Romanow and Grant Devine, former Lieutenant Governor Lynda Haverstock, former University of Saskatchewan president Peter Mackinonon, and Premier Brad Wall.

“To listen to the story of this life through strangers’ ears we would be forgiven if we concluded that it couldn’t possibly be true of one person. This must be a character in a novel, or part of lore,” said Wall.

Fedoruk passed away last week.

She was 85.
