UPDATE: One person dead and three others taken to hospital
A 34-year-old woman is dead after a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 11 and Wanuskewin Road between Warman and Saskatoon.
On Sunday, Sept. 30, Saskatoon police and fire protective services were called to the scene at approximately 11:18 a.m., where a minivan traveling westbound from Wanuskewin Road crossing Highway 11 was struck by a truck traveling southbound.
There were three adult occupants in the minivan including a female who was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
The other two occupants, a 49-year-old male and a 42-year-old female, and the 45-year-old male driving the truck were also taken to hospital.
Joe Lockhart was driving home from the airport Sunday afternoon when he saw an ambulance and a fire truck zip by him.
"I pulled up here and there's a half-ton in the ditch with its front end all smashed up and a minivan all smashed up and crews were using the Jaws of Life to extract people in the minivan," said Lockhart.
Lockhart said he also saw a motionless arm and witnessed emergency workers pull over a white blanket over a body. Lockhart said he saw four emergency medical service vehicles on scene when he arrived.
Police have cordoned off all southbound traffic on Highway 11 and re-opened the highway Sunday evening.
