No full day kindergarten for Sask. students

Education minister says many parents response has been 'no' to the idea of all-day kindergarten

Full day kindergarten in Saskatchewan is not on the governments to do list yet.

This is despite the province's school board association calling for it to be implemented.

Saskatchewan Education Minister Donna Harpauer says she has been hearing from parents.

“There are some that are saying ‘yes’ but there are a greater number, quite frankly, that are saying ‘no’ that they’re not interested and wouldn’t want their child in an all-day (kindergarten),” said Harpauer.

She says parents will have a strong voice if there is a formal process looking into all-day kindergarten in the future.
