New tenant in the historic Adilman Building in Riversdale
A bustling Riversdale business community has a new tenant.
“I think there’s a lot of positive and creative energy that’s here and it’s a growing area and it offered us the opportunity to tailor our space to the new Tap,” said Tap Communications president Michelle Nelson.
Wednesday marked the official welcoming of Tap Communications into the Riversdale neighbourhood. Having occupied a spot in the financial building on 22nd Street for the past 15 years, Nelson said the second floor at the Adilman building on 20th Street and Avenue B offers Tap the freedom to cater the space to their business, something they were limited to downtown.
“It was clear our space wasn’t fitting us anymore in a lot of ways. It was way too big and formal and there was a lot of wasted space and separation between people,” said Nelson.
“What I wanted was an office I could tailor to the new Tap and this is it, having a space that’s more open and collaborative and has a more comfortable feel to it.”
Back when Riversdale was known as South Downtown, Nelson said Tap worked with the community to develop a logo and help brand River Landing.
“We’re very excited to see this neighbourhood grow and prosper and to be connected with all the visionaries and businesses it’s a very excited move for us,” said Nelson.
Executive director for the Riversdale BID, Randy Pshebylo said small business such as Tap moving into the Riversdale neighbourhood will ultimately enhance the overall community, as individuals will look to live closer to work and buy up new housing construction or renovate existing houses in the area.
“When we start to see more people living here needing more services we’re starting to see a lot more activity of the sidewalks in a positive way,” said Pshebylo.
With the opening of the Circle Drive South Bridge just under eight weeks away, Pshebylo said that bridge will also help improve traffic in and out of Riversdale.
“We’ll have better circulation on the south end of the city. It’ll be easier to get here, easier to get the supply, coupled with the streetscaping that’s coming, the timing is right.”
Tap Communications has signed a 10-year lease for 203-126 20th Street West. In operation for 23 years, Tap is an award-winning ad agency based in Saskatoon.
