A new set of 10K20 winners announced
There are five more winners for Project 10K20 Saskatchewan.
Each
band will receive $10,000 to record, mix and master a full length CD, through
the program created by Rawlco Radio
Foam Lake is a rock band of
four blood brothers out of Saskatoon, named after the town where their mother
was raised.
Saskatoon country rock band, Wyatt, is a four-piece
group with a good history so far in Saskatchewan. They have been voted "Group of
the Year" twice at the Saskatchewan Country Music Awards.
Val
Halla is out of Regina and has opened for the likes of Alice Cooper and Burton
Cummings of the Guess Who.
Regina's Tyler Gilbert is a musician
of many talents playing guitar, piano, bass and harmonica — he plays a mix of
new-folk songs with soulful vocals.
Cities Under Fire out of
North Battleford has already won "Modern Rock/Alternative Album of the Year" at
the 2011 GMA Canada awards.
Rawlco Radio will continue to
announce Project 10K20 recipients in March and September of each year to 2014.
There are still 40 more artists to announce.
"We are half way
through Project 10K20 having announced 40 artists and we're still receiving a
number of outstanding applications throughout Saskatchewan. This truly shows the
amount of talent we have within our province," said Harreson James, the director
of Project 10K20 Saskatchewan.
