Death of missing Donald Barnett of Regina not suspicious
An autopsy conducted a day after his body was found near the Wascana Trails confirms that Donald Barnett's death was not suspicious.
RCMP say an investigation into the death will proceed under the Coroner's Act.
The 86-year-old's body was located about two kilometres south of where his vehicle was parked at the parking lot for the Wascana trails. The body was found in knee high grass.
The STARS helicopter was able to spot the body. RCMP search and rescue contacted STARS air ambulance to help with the search for Barnett. Although search efforts are not usually part of the duties for STARS, they agreed to help.
They found his body at 11 a.m. Tuesday, shortly after they were called in. Barnett disappeared on Thursday after saying he was going to Wascana Trails north of Regina. He was reported missing by his family.
