Eight Saskatoon women have been singled out for their leadership skills in a nomination by the Business and Professional Women's Club of Saskatoon for the ATHENA awards next month.

The awards started in the US to recognize the contributions of professional women.

The nominees include former PotashCorp vice president Betty-Ann Heggie, who now dedicates her life to empowering women in the business world.

The young professional award nominees include musician Carrie Catherine.
