A 74-year-old woman is in hospital after she was hit by a car today in the Fourth Avenue and 22nd Street area.

Police said the incident happened around 12:55 p.m. when a vehicle, travelling northbound on Fourth Avenue, hit the pedestrian while attempting to make a left hand turn. The woman, who was crossing the road at the time when she was hit, was transported to hospital with what is believed non-life threatening injuries, said police.

The 20-year-old driver has been charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian.
