Email Raises FNUC Questions
The First Nations University is out of pocket about $12 million with both the province and the federal government now pulling funding. And an email circulating has raised some serious questions.
The email looks to be from Charles Pratt President of the FNUC. It is sent to a number of people including Advanced Education Minister Rob Norris and staff at the University of Regina. Pratt writes:
"All,
I am sharing this information with the current Board of Governors based on factual research and legal information that they are the official Board of Governors and Board of Directors. Information regarding Murray Westerlund is attached for your review. This is an internal document.
Please keep in strictest confidence.
Charles Pratt"
Now this is written in the face of the First Nations leadership dissolving the board just last week. Norris is troubled by what it says, "the curious introduction on the email has led me to ask a number of questions."
Given all this Norris is not surprised those in Ottawa made the same move as the province to pull funding. But he is reassuring students government will work with them to ensure they can complete their studies.
