Riders Start Grey Cup Preparations

The Saskatchewan Roughriders hit the practice field for the first time this week. Both Darian Durant and Eddie Davis mentioned the workout was crisp and the players were very focused on the task at hand. For the second straight day Durant was the centre of attention, as he'll start in the first Grey Cup of his career.

Everyone on the Riders roster was at practice today so no injury news to start the week for the Riders.

The Montreal Alouettes hit the practice field in the afternoon but only participated in a walk-thru and will have two full practices Thursday and Friday. The Alouettes arrived past midnight in Calgary but Head Coach Marc Trestman said he wanted to have their regular day of meetings on Tuesday before flying West.

COACH MILLER COMES CLEAN

The story of the day on Wednesday occurred when Rider Head Coach Ken Miller acknowledged the fact he survived cancer in 2002. Miller's arrival to Toronto was delayed as than Head Coach Gary Etcheverry explained there was a health problem that kept Miller from arriving when expected.

When asked what that delay was, Miller hesitated than under his breath said, "Oh, shoot." But opened up about his fight with prostate cancer but Miller said all that is now in the past.

Miller also downplayed the rumours that he was retiring at the end of the year says as of right now he hopes to continue his career as Rider head coach.
