Pats Get Good News But Lose
The Regina Pats got some great news on a night they dropped to 1-4 on the season.
Pats leading scorer last season Jordan Eberle is returning to the Pats after the 19-year old failed to make it through the final cuts for the Edmonton Oilers. Despite Eberle not making the team, many believed he was one of the most consistent forwards for the Oilers in the pre-season.
The news of Eberle's return couldn't come at a better time as the Pats have stumbled out of the gate in the early part of the season. On Sunday night, they lost 4-1 to the Saskatoon Blades and were out shot 31-23.
The lone goal for the Pats came off the stick of Jordan Weal, who will benefit by having Eberle's play making ability on his line.
Last year, Eberle led the Pats with 35 goals and 39 assists, despite missing 11 games while attending Oilers training camp and playing on the gold medal Canadian team at the World Junior Hockey Championships, a team he will likely make against this winter allowing him to play in his home province of Saskatchewan.
Eberle's first game with the Pats will be Wednesday night when the Pats take on Prince Albert in P.A. Eberle's first game on home ice will come this Friday when the Swift Current Broncos visit the Brandt Centre.
Sunday was busy for the Pats, who also traded 20-year old goaltender Linden Rowat to the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for a conditional 5th round pick in the Bantam Draft.
