Rosetown Continues To Deal With Contaminated Water
Two months after the problem began, the town of Rosetown continues to deal with water contaminated with salt and sulphates.
The town's water treatment plant broke down in July.
Since then, Vehicles going through the car wash have been coming out covered in white spots. Dishes coming out of the dishwasher end up covered in residue. And the door of every restaurant has a bottled water advisory staring potential customers in the face.
But Town Administrator D'arcy Olson says longtime residents aren't affected by the tap water and don't hesitate to drink it, but he says visitors might want to stick to the bottled variety.
"Sulphates cause a laxitive effect in people who aren't used to it, who don't have a tolerance to it," Olson said.
An unpleasant side effect for those who aren't suffering from constipation.
But a fix is coming. The water treatment plant is expected to be back to normal by the end of September. The repair bill is expected to be roughly $150,000.
