U of S... On Your Phone
Need to check your class schedule, there's an app for that.
Want to know where you can do laundry close to campus, there's an app for that.
Huskies highlights, you guessed it - an app for that.
What may be most surprising, is that it's all the same application.
If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch, the University of Saskatchewan has a fairly groundbreaking program for you. iUSask is an application that helps navigate the campus.
Chad Jones, a co-creator on the U of S staff, says the app puts the school in rare company.
"We're the first in Canada to offer students an iPhone application and as far as I know, for universities, we're third or fourth in the world."
The school is now offering a course on how to program smartphones. Jones says the iUSask application came about as a perfect way to showcase what the course can teach.
The class is already waitlisted and the free application has been downloaded over 1500 times.
