Dinner in the Sky

SIGA wines and dines guests 40 metres in the air

It sounds like something out of "Fear Factor"; eating, while hanging over 100 feet in the air.

But "Dinner in the Sky" is a posh three course meal served at a table suspended by a crane with stringent safety ratings.  And it's being hosted this weekend by the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority at Saskatoon's River Landing.

According to the President and CEO of "Dinner in the Sky", SIGA was very instrumental in bringing the event to Saskatchewan.

"They insisted," says Jean-Francois Grenier.  "They definitely wanted it here in Saskatoon and it was natural for us to accompany them.  The were very well organized and structured."

Grenier says Saskatoon joins a short list of cities to experience "Dinner in the Sky,"  including Paris, Berlin, Dubai and Toronto.

SIGA is planning around 17 lifts, all of which are booked.  President and CEO Zane Hansen says he can see making "Dinner in the Sky" an annual event.

Hosting a meal over 100 feet above the ground can cost anywhere from $300 to $2,200 per head.  Fortunately this weekend, it's on SIGA's tab.

What do you do if you have to dash for the facilities??? Do you require safety harnesses at that height?

The lift takes about1 minute

The lift takes about1 minute to come done in case of needing facilities or anything else for that matter, and the harness was similar to those on a nasca strapped in and very comfortable. A great event and a great experience all in all.
