Canada Revenue Agency Cracks Down on Saskatoon Restaurant

Asia Buffet fined $57,000 for tax evasion

The Canada Revenue Agency has come down hard on a Saskatoon Restaurant and employee.

Asia Buffet on Circle Drive has been fined over $57,000 thousand dollars after charges of income tax evasion.

In addition, Minh Chau- described as an employee and father of the company shareholders- pleaded guilty to income tax evasion and was fined over $62,000.

Chau has also been given a  twelve-month conditional sentence.

The Agency says the scheme attempted to conceal restaurant sales of $287,000 from 2002 to 2004.

Asia Buffet and Minh Chau must also pay outstanding taxes, plus penalties and interest- amounting to $460,000.
