STC Expands Bus Security
New measures now in place
As of Monday bus travel should be even safer in Saskatchewan.
Saskatchewan Transportation Corporation is introducing the implementation of more new security measures. Additions include cameras on the inside and outside of every bus, better lighting, a plexi glass shield to separate drivers from passengers, and GPS systems with emergency alert buttons.
There are further steps being taken as well, but not all of those will be released to the public. Previous security features included engine kill switches on the outside of buses, secure loading terminals, and emergency training for drivers.
Some of the work will take until the end of the first quarter of 2009 to complete, according to the company.

STC had better read the
STC had better read the Charter before telling drivers to frisk passengers. It's called "Freedom From Unreasonable Search and Seizure". Police, by law, have certain powers in this regard, by bus drivers are private citizens and thus lack the needed powers.
Searching?
I missed seeing anything in that report regarding the frisking of passengers. However, if they do implement such a measure, and you don't want to consent to the search, you can always refuse and be refused boarding on the bus. Much the same if you refuse to be search for boarding an aircraft. If you don't consent to the security measures, you are consenting not to use the service provided.
