Meteorite Chunks Found On Farm South of Lloydminster

Meteorites from an asteroid that lit up the prairie sky last week have been found on a farm twenty kilometres south of Lloydminster.

So far twelve meteorites have been discovered, the largest being 250 grams.

One Friday, Scientists planned to continue their search for more over the weekend.

Planetary Scientist Dr. Alan Hildebrand from the University of Calgary, says graduate student Ellen Milley who is on the search with him and actually was the first to spot the meteorites frozen in a pond.

When it comes to the reward being offered by some collectors in the US, the owner of the farm where the meteorites were discovered Ian Mitchell says he hasn't decided yet if he will sell them.

He says he will donate some for research.
