Prayers for Peace During Hindu Services in Regina

Response to Deadly Mumbai Attacks
Story Tools

The healing begins for residents in Mumbai and those around the world with ties to India.

Regina's Hindu Temple held a prayer service and a moment of silence Sunday. The traditional service was meant to promote creativity and a sense of calm.

Temple president Harjit Singh Bajwa explains the service is an appeal to the fire god to calm the destructive fires in the world, and to ask for peace.

Member Dr. Kaysha Shurma says the attacks in Mumbai, which claimed 174 lives, are eliciting an emotional response, but people are thankful that the situation seems to have come to an end.
