'Brutal' Landlord Slaying Sends Saskatoon Man To Jail

Wilfred Hathway sentenced to 11 1/2 years
Story Tools

Pleading guilty to manslaughter has a Saskatoon man facing a 4 year jail term.

The Judge described the killing as brutal.

A 'vulnerable' 84 year old Denver Crawford was stabbed 10 times in the face in 1998 while inside his own home.

Wilfred Hathway was sentenced to 11 1/2 years but was given 7 1/2 years credit for time served in remand.

Prosecutor Krista Zerr says the jail term may not add up to 4 years actually spent behind bars due to statutory release provisions.

Hathway maintained his innocence for years before eventually admitting he killed the 84 year old.

Yep, now there's justice...

Brutal brutal murder, and the guy will spend less than 4 years in the slammer. Small wonder Canada is the criminals number one choice for doing business.
