Swift Current Hosts World Women's Curling

City optomistic about event

It's been a well-kept secret in the city of Swift Current and the curling community, but now it's out in the open.

The city has been awarded the 2010 World Women's Curling Championships. The Canadian Curling Association's Warren Hanson says a city the size of Swift Current is actually a pretty good fit for the event.

"We had great success in Grande Prairie in 2006 in a similar-sized building and community and the same thing in Vernon last year. So coming into Swift Current with this event with the same size complex is exactly what we wanted."

Mayor Sandy Larsen calls it the pinnicle of all events ever held in the city.
