Parking Pass Increase Approved in Regina

Council Also Approves Rental Fee Increases
Story Tools

Regina city councillors have approved price increases in the permits that are sold to park at metered spots.

The move was recommended, to recoup the revenue lost when a metered spot is taken up by someone who's not plugging the meter. But it raises another concern for councillor Michael Fougere -- people who work downtown, such as at Crown corporations, using the permits to park all day.

Fougere was told the city will look at ways to better enforce the time limits, adding the new handheld devices being given to commissionaires may help with that.

Council has also improved increases in facility rentals that run in the neighbourhood of four percent. As part of the move, program partners like community associations won't have to pay.
