Spiritwood Remembers
Story Tools

In Spiritwood this week- a chance to say good-bye to a fallen soldier.

Corporal Dustin Wasden was one of three Canadian soldiers killed by a roadside bomb outside Kandahar City on August 20th.

Local pastor, Leigh Sinclair, expects nearly the entire town to attend the service.

She says Wasden was affectionately known as a 'trickster', so some of the stories shared during the funeral could be light hearted.

Sinclair also credits Wasden for bringing the issue of Afghanistan to the forefront in Spiritwood.

The funeral procession starts at 1:30p.m. Wednesday afternoon, and a Catholic mass will occur at 2 p.m.
