Order Of Canada To Be Returned

Father Lucien Larre decries Morgentaler appointment
Story Tools

The first fallout in the decision to appoint abortionist Henry Morgentaler to the Order of Canada comes from a man who has had his own controversies right here in Saskatchewan.

Father Lucien Larre, the founder of Bosco Homes and the Craven Jamboree, says, as a matter of conscience, he's returning his Order of Canada.

He received the Order 25 years ago.

Larre was convicted in 1992 of physically abusing children under his care at Bosco homes. He was given a fine and one day in jail.  5 years later, the national parole board pardoned him.

Controversy though, followed Larre to British Columbia, where he registered as a phsycologist. Last November the BC College pf Psychologists suspended Larre because of numerous complaints. The College says it suspended him because it felt he posed "an immediate risk to the public."

The appointment of Henry Morgentaler to the Order of Canada was announced on Canada Day.

Dr. Morgentaler's Order of Canada appointment

I think it is important to keep emotions out of this debate, which is what I have observed several people not doing. They have been thinking with their hearts in order to save unborn children. What is important to me is the question, "What is the larger picture here?" The answer to that is, "We have far too many people on this planet already, and some folks with a certain pro-life philosophy out there are only concerned with saving a few instead of our entire planet." I am not being cruel or indifferent when I say this, I am being pragmatic about the issue.

A woman's right to choose to not to bear an unborn child in a safe facility with experienced physicians is tantamount. We will never solve the myriad issues facing humanity by punishing someone like Dr. Morgentaler for his beliefs and commitment to women.

Morgantaler

How is not giving Morgantaler the Order of Canada a punishment? He will recieve his punishment regardless of whether or not he recieves the Order of Canada. We save the world in small steps. Saving the lives of the unborn children is just one small step we can all work for.

Order of Canada Appt.

Strongly disagree with the Order of Canada being awarded to Dr. Morgentaler.

For the first time in my

For the first time in my life I am ashamed of this country, and if I was a recipient of the order of Canada, I would be returning it for it has now become a tarnished emblem for the right to kill. The order of Canada for killing babies, what were they thinking? Perhaps it is time to take off the rose colored glasses and quit attacking someone's religion in hopes of winning an argument. "Catholics should not judge." Was posted in a recent article attacking Regina’s Pro-Life president Bob Waldegger for his comments regarding Morgentaler being named to The Order of Canada. We as a society need to start judging crimes not religious beliefs. There are youth gangs stealing hundreds of cars every day, youth being addicted to crack cocaine at an epidemic rate, and mothers killing their babies under the veil of freedom of choice. We are so caught up in "freedom of whatever" that our justice system is failing miserably. This country is in a state of moral decay, and every time the topic of abortion comes up, we hear of coat hangers and back alleys as a defense, and we buy it. Give me a break! How stupid do they (the pro-abortionists) think we are? I would think as a society we have come out of the dark ages but instead, we kill our babies in the name of choice. We fail to discipline our youth because they cannot be responsible for their actions at such a young tender age. Women and men have a choice to get pregnant or not. Car thieves have a choice to steal a car or not. People have a choice to take drugs or not. Last time I checked, no female was born pregnant, so except for the very few who are victims of sexual abuse; they made a choice along the way to have sex and like the car thief and other criminals, should be made to accept the responsibility that comes with their actions. The only one without a choice is the unborn child, and their rights are not even considered. There are line ups of loving caring couples waiting years to adopt children, and yet healthy babies are being killed in the womb. When my wife neared losing our third child in the first tri-mester of her pregnancy, the doctors and nurses worked feverishly to save our daughters life, and did. There was no mistaking that there was a child’s life at stake by us or the medical staff that saved her life. How then can our legal system argue that that same life did not exist? She is now fourteen years old, and a bright beautiful child. Perhaps she and her generation will lead our society to mend its ways, and correct our mistakes. To think of the many bright minds and futures that have been lost to murder in the name of choice is staggering. Our society again is turning a blind eye to what everyone knows to be morally correct for the sake of convenience. To see only the good in life and fail to accept the error of our ways or the wrongs of society leads to moral decay. Maybe as a society we need to pull our head out of the sand, and take off the rose colored glasses. Perhaps it will take some of those bright minds that were not aborted to save this Country from itself, and bring dignity back to “The Order of Canada.”

I agree

I agree with Mike 100%. Make your choices to do the right thing not the easy. All people, Catholic or not, need to judge right from wrong. We must recognize wrong and work to change it.
