The killing of horses for meat although not the nicest of topics for horse lovers. It is a neccesity for the horse market! I would like to see the teatment and standard for killing horse raised in Canada.
You should also know that that the slaughter plant in question is goverment inspected.... I feel that the goverment inspectors that are paid for by our taxes are letting the horse industry down!
The American ban on horse slaughter has had a back lash on the horse industry... that will be felt for many decades to come. It has made horses seem affordable to people who have no knowledge, experience, or means to keep a horse healthy & safe!
I stand by my opinion that 3 days of stress that a horse might occur from sale to slaughter.... Is far better than a life of starvation and cruel treatment by people who know no better!
So many sad stories in the states about people who are taking advantage of this horse slaughter ban with the vet raiseing the price on uthenasia. to the people that dig the graves. Also the states that ban the use of grave sites for horses. And force a animal cremation with cost upwards of $15,000. Stories of horses being abandoned in parks and community pastures to fend for themselves.
So please for the horses don't ban horse slaughter. Lets petition the goverment for a higher standard in the slaughter industry. With more regular inspections by the goverment inspectors....(who if they where doing their job this would of never been allowed to happen!)

There are some of us that may agree on the idea of horse slaughter and not want it to be banned, but unlike them I DO NOT LIKE HORSE SLAUGHTER! As a lover of horses and animals in general I'm doing and trying everything I can to stop the shipment of horses to the slaughter houses to be brutally beaten, have dead with major suffering, left to die in their own blood as well as others, whipped, and hung to die as well as be still alive when tortured and have broken bones and stripped completely of their precious and beautiful mane. I HATE ANYONE WHO LIKES the idea of horses being slaughtered for the fun of it and the houses in Saasktewan and Texas still running and not banned yet. I WANT ALL HORSES TO BE SAFE AND TREATED FAIRLY AND WITH RESPECT. I WANT ALL THE HORSES TO BE KILLED ONLY IF THEY ARE TRUELY SUFFERING OR ARE VERY SICK AND ON THE VERGE OF DEATH. NOT THOSE THAT ARE HEALTHY AND/OR THOSE THAT DIDN'T SELL AT THE AUCTIONS. IT'S NOT FAIR!!! SAVE THE HORSES AND LET THEM LIVE!!! THEY HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING WRONG!! AND THEY DON'T DESERVE TO BE TREATED THIS WAY NO MATTER WHAT PEOPLE SAY!!! SAVE THEM AND BE RESPECTFUL!!

i got my 8 year old welsh pony cross at an horse slaughter auction, just bought her on spect as when i seen her i just couldn't help but want her she was 2 1/2 to 3 years at the time she is 8 years old and she is the best horse i have ever owned. she is a little hunter champion at the A shows and just came back from the regional dressage show and came in resver champion there. see all the horse there makes me wana buy them all expecally when you see some one buying them for meat. so i would love to encorage every one to go and look for horses at auctions you may get a little champion like i did and not pay the big dollars for them i had some one offer 30,000 for her and im liek no way she is too good to go for that and then you think about it, that is a vary good profit. well i still own her and will be breeding her talents in the spring and hope every one buys from auctions they are good horses

How can people kill horses all they did i bring fortune and fame to there owners and you thank them by sending them to slaughter how can horse owners do that to the things that made them rich and also they only messed up once every thing makes mistakes. Since us humans make mistakes all the time does that mean we deserve to die to!!!.... For us horse lovers this is really disappointing to those teenage girls horse is there best friend how would you like to have your best friend killed?

I'm on the fence. I HATE HATE HATE HATE horse slaughter and have LESS THEN ZERO love for the employees. But without horse slaughter horses are being neglected or abused and left to starve or die of other causes because they can't effen take care of them. Bastards. But horses have helped us through centuries. They've taken us into battle, given us transportation, carried goods to the market to sell. Over the years, when technology took over and we no longer needed horses for transportation or battle, they gave us love, support, companionship, and much more. They helped us when we were sad and listened to us when no one else would. They gather us fame and put their trust and love into our hands. And this, this is how we repay them? Slaughter them in the most painful way imaginable? Abuse them and neglect them? Those people that give that crap, it IS crap, "there's no 'stop cow slaughter!'". A. there probably is. B. They're BRED for slaughter! HELLO! Horses are bred for QUITE different reasons. They're little girls(and boys) best friends. Their dreams! How many cows do you know that you love like that? Horses are my life. Always have, always will. And that's that.

Closing the horse slaughter plants in the states did nothing what so ever to help horses. If fact, the U.S. is now facing a huge problem of what to do with all the unwanted horses.

On a average year,100,000 horses go unwanted every year and has been that way for the past 12 to 15 years. In 2008, over 150,000 unwanted horses were exported for slaughter, so there was a 50% increase in unwanted horses due to the economy.

I do NOT eat cow! Nor horses. You can eat a different steak that is not actual cow. Horses are raised to run, or jump, or to compete. They have a purpose in life. Cows, I hate to say, are not ment for anything but food and mauare.
