Story Tools

Heavy smoke from a forest fire is keeping residents of Uranium City away from home. The 74 evacuees are being looked after by the Town of Fort Smith in the North West Territories while they cope with a fire only 4 kilometres from their community. Meanwhile, residents from the northern community of Stony Rapids are facing a similar situation. Several elders and children have moved south to Prince Albert to avoid the smoke clouds, but officials have yet to call an evacuation order.
