Saskatchewan is looking to Nova Scotia to decide the best practice when it comes to Video Lottery Terminals.Our province, along with Manitoba, has the highest number of the machines per capita in Canada.In 2006, Nova Scotia decided to reduce their number of VLTs by one third.Premier Brad Wall says he's not sure yet what will happen with the machines in Saskatchewan- but that we need to look at the social impact that gaming has on Saskatchewan residents.Wall says provincial governments need to learn from their neighbours.

OK, here is what you do. Anyone who has been to the Casino has seen the player cards that you stick into the machines. ALL machines, vlt's included, need to be retrofitted with these cards, and they will NOT work without a card inserted. Then you impose a monthly limit on the card that will not allow the machine to operate until the next month. You can not stop problem gambling, but you can limit the damage. This will likely never happen, as it is a hudge cash cow for all involved.
