Andy Fantuz back in town
It's almost like a homecoming weekend for some members of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Receiver Andy Fantuz, quarterback Henry Burris and kicker Luca Congi all coming back to the city where they once played. It's certainly not the first time Burris has come back to Mosaic Stadium, but it is a first for Fantuz, who left Saskatchewan for Hamilton in the off season .
"It was different, the whole experience from the airport, not seeing anybody there, like we're used to coming home to," said Fantuz. 'It's been a little weird, but gotta get used to it, it's time to start getting used to it."
The Ti-Cats held their final walk through before Saturday afternoon's game at Mosaic Stadium on Friday, it was the first time ever that Fantuz was on the other sideline and in different colours. Now the question remains, how will the fans react to his return?
"We don't really talk about it too much," said Fantuz. "This is kind of the only time we really think about it, when we're asked questions."
As mentioned, Burris has been through the wrath of Rider nation more than once, he hasn't really done much to get Fantuz ready, but he did say that the team as a whole has been trying to help him out.
"We've been yelling his name all week, just to get him ready, just in case they decide not to yell my name," said Burris."
Burris also joked that he's glad to have Fantuz on his side, hoping that it will divide who the fans pay attention to.
The game will also be a different experience for Riders quarterback Darian Durant, who is good friends with Fantuz.
"I think Andy is a true pro, he'll come in and just be focused on getting a win," said Durant. "Our job is to spoil the day for him."
As for the reaction, Durant expects that Fantuz will see some cheers before the start of the game, but expects the fans to get on him once the game is underway.
Notes:
The Riders have finalized their roster for the weekend, as expected defensive back's Woodny Turenne and Eddie Russ won't be playing. Also bumped from the line up are receiver Justin Harper, defensive lineman David Veikune, and linebacker Darren Stone.
That means, defensive back Macho Harris, defensive end Chris Ellis, defensive lineman Mick Williams, and receivers Terence Jeffers-Harris and Taj Smith have been added to the roster.
