PHOTOS: HomeStyles exhibition kicks off
The annual HomeStyles household improvement exhibition kicked off in Saskatoon on Thursday, with more than 100 kiosks.
They showcased everything from custom bathroom doors to designer indoor jacuzzi tubs, even something called a "man shed," an outdoor haven of masculinity complete with five flatscreen TVs, barstools and a fully stocked portable bar.
"There's always the latest trends here," said Sarah Trefiak, director of marketing and events for the Saskatoon and Region Homebuilders Association and manager of the exhibition.
"It's a great way for people to compare products and get quotes for their next home renovation."
The event two speakers there from the Home and Garden TV network — Sandra Rinomato from the show Property Virgins and Samantha Pynn from Pure Design. Home improvement expert Shell Busey also made an appearance on Thursday.
But with all the flash and flare, it's important to remember that home improvement is an area well-known to be full of pit falls.
"Get as much information as you can about the products you're looking at. Ask a lot of questions, get quotes, and really be certain it's something you want to purchase before you go ahead and sign any deals with that company," Trefiak said.
"Be cautious of what you're buying."
The exhibition goes until Sunday.
