How to File a Great iWitness Report!
- Have your digital camera, digital video camera, or camera phone with you at all times. When you see news, get the images or video recorded and then transferred to your computer.
- Go to our iWitness Submission Form and fill out the information required.
- In the box labeled 'tell us about your story', explain what the circumstances around the audio, video, or photo are. Give details about people in the images, and what is taking place! We will quote you from this section when we post your iWitness report, so be sure to include as much information as possible!
iWitness FAQ
Q. What can I contribute to News Talk iWitness?
A. We're looking for your photos and videos of news events taking place wherever you are. The important thing about contributing to iWitness is that you must have ownership of the images or video you contribute. This means you cannot contribute photos or videos from 'chain e-mails' or stuff you find elsewhere on the internet.
Q. Why do you ask for my phone number?
A. Giving us your phone number allows us to give you a call to confirm your story if need be, and it also allows us to get in touch with you if we want to do a follow-up story on News Talk Radio.
Q. What file formats do you accept?
A. We currently accept most of the standard file formats for web video and images, including AVI, MOV, MP4, 3G2 (Cell Phone Video), and JPG. You can also send us audio files in mp3 and wav format, and documents encoded as PDFs or DOC files.
Q. Why is my iWitness report not on the site?
A. When you submit your iWitness report, our editorial team will review your story prior to it going live online. In some instances, we may do a follow-up story for broadcast and post your iWitness report at the same time as that story. In other instances, we may choose not to publish the iWitness report as per the terms of service of our website.
Q. Why won't my file upload?
A. File uploads are restricted to a maximum of 4MB. If you are attempting to upload a video, you may need to convert it using your video editing program to a lower resolution. If you are attempting to upload a photo, you may need to resize it so it fits the required size. If you are unable to resize your content for it to fit the 4MB limit, please send an e-mail to iwitness@rawlco.com detailing your problem.
Q. I'm having trouble uploading content using News Talk iWitness.
A. If you are experiencing technical difficulties, please send an e-mail to iwitness@rawlco.com detailing your problem.
