NDP's Lingenfelter quits after Sask. election defeat

Dwain Lingenfelter resigned as leader of the Saskatchewan NDP after he lost his seat in Regina Douglas Park to the Sask. Party’s Russ Marchuk.

Lingenfelter’s loss marks the first time in Saskatchewan history that an NDP leader has lost his own seat in a general election.

Charges laid in Lloydminster overpass crash

A truck driver from Makwa has been charged after a semi-trailer carrying a backhoe crashed into an overpass just east of Lloydminster in October.

Bradley Hein, 47, is charged with exceeding the maximum dimensions allowed under the Highway and Transportation Act.

There were no injuries in the collision but highway access was restricted for several days.

Hein is scheduled to appear in court on December 12.

Man dies after collision north of Radisson

A 34-year-old Hafford man is dead after a collision on a grid road 20 kilometres north of Radisson on Friday evening.

Sergeant Warren Gherasim with the Warman RCMP reports that the man's vehicle veered across the centre line and smashed into a pickup truck.

“We don’t know about the deceased, whether there was any alcohol or drug consumption,” said Gherasim.

The two occupants of the truck sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Saskatoon went to the polls today to vote in the Saskatchewan election. Provincially the Sask Party led by Brad Wall is expected to win with 66 per cent support in recent polls, but Saskatoon has always been a fairly strong foothold of the NDP.

Some stopped outside the Nutana Collegiate voting centre to give their opinions on the importance of voting, the state of the electoral process and the untimely first snowfall right before the election.
