It doesn't take a football expert to know that Michael Bishop's effort on Sunday won't win the Riders a playoff game, let alone help them return to the Grey Cup. He'll have to be much sharper if he wants to continue to earn playing time. However, for a pivot who had just four full practices with his team leading up to the Labor Day Classic, I thought he was O.K. He had just 10 completions for 108 yards, but did score a touchdown using his legs. Agile quarterbacks are key in the Ken Miller/Paul Lapolice offense that the Riders use. Bishop showed he has that.

Here is a quick note to coach Ken Miller. You will be asked on Tuesday after practice if  you are going to start Darian Durant or Michael Bishop for the Banjo Bowl. Neither one is a bad choice. Just get ready for the question from a media member....that's all. 

It was awesome to have the TSN panel in Regina for the game for alot of reasons. The biggest of which is I don't have to work so hard when they are on the sidelines for a game. I'm all about dodging work. 

...and of course there are the signs that show up at Mosaic Stadium on the Labor Day weekend.. Two of my favourites were...."Rome May Have A Pope, But We Have A Bishop", and the other was "We May Be 2 and 7, But We Don't Marry Our Sister".  Funny Stuff!!!!!!

I'm very pumped for the local football season in Saskatoon. My 16 year old is ready to make his senior debut at defensive end for Holy Cross highschool. My 13 year old is a quarterback for the Kinsmen team in my neighbourhood. Both have played hockey, basketball and soccer in their minor sports career, but football is the best game ever (in my humble opinion). It should be great.

Can you believe we have to stomach two elections from now until the end of the year, on both sides of the border no less. For those of you who say athletes state the obvious, (have to give 100%....I left it all on the field.....I'd like to thank my teammates) did you hear the politicians at the DNC! "We need to get Americans working.......we need to bring our soldiers home......we need to ensure healthcare for everyone......blah, blah, blah). No kidding! I can't wait until these elections are over. Boring.
