The Regina stadium debate continues to generate more questions than answers. I've had a number of people ask me for an opionion. The short answer is...I don't have one.
I need to know the following:
-What Saskatchewan corporations are contributing, and for what percentage of the entire project?
-Is the City of Regina paying for day to day operations? (The City of Saskatoon pays to operate Credit Union Centre and the SHAW Centre. The City of Regina should pay for day to day operations of a new facility.)
Could one have written a better script? At the mid-way point of the Vancouver Games I had a bitter-sweet feeling. The bitter came with the death of the Georgian luge competitor, a banged up Canadian ski team that didn't achieve expected results, a men's hockey team that looked shaky out of the gate and negative world wide press. The games got off to a bitter start. The sweet feeling came with Alex Bilodeau's gold medal in moguls, a Maelle Ricker gold medal in snowcross and the fact that the women's hockey team were mowing over their competition as expected.
Are there that many snobs in Saskatoon?
The Eric Tillman era is over in Riderville. The actions towards his babysitter over a year ago were inexcusable. Tillman knows that. He plead guilty, accepted the sentence and said he hoped to stay. There is a perecentage of Rider fans that won't allow that to happen. On Tuesday Tillman said his wife was the victim of verbal abuse from some Bomber fans during last September's Labor Day Classic. It's not right that fans act like that, but the reality is its going to happen.
Happy New Year to all.
Thursday's Canadian win over the U.S.A. was like the bad movie with the happy ending. Here's hoping that is the last shootout we see at Credit Union Centre for the WJC. It's OK in the round robin, but that is no way to decide a game of importance. Be gone shootout....be gone!
The Canadians were on their heels for two periods and then some. It looked like the U.S.A. team got tired in the third. I am becoming a huge fan of Brandon McMillan. Great wheels and a terrific touch around the net. He is also an awesome playmaker.
