And that the anti-regulatory, 'get government off the backs of business' political dimwits who fostered a culture that allowed the credit crisis to develop are the same ones offering what is effectively a socialist solution? The U.S. government has been taking over some of the biggest financial institutions and is offering to take equity in some others.
So much for cuttin’ red tape and lettin’ bizness do bizness!
Sadly, it may be the least painful of the unpalatable options available.
But at least everyone will have learned a lesson from this whenever this ends right? That government regulation of the financial industry is necessary and that unfettered greed is not a virtue?
And if you believe that, I’ll sell you some oceanfront property in Saskatchewan. But…..cash only please.

Murray, you said a mouthful
Just like farmers who holler when the govt taxes you, but, then they line up when there is a drought for a handout...isn't it amazing how Wall St executives can tell the govt to shred the regulations...and then when they mess up and cause people to lose entire fortunes, they turn to the govt to bail them out?? True capitalists.
Good piece Murray. Also
Good piece Murray.
Also ironic. The people most affected by this "crash" are generally older Americans near retirement. Younger folks can afford to wait it out. Since America is already running record debt this $700 billion will be added on. In other words, it is the problem of future generations. Yet, older people LOVE to lecture young people about financial responsibility.
