Guess Who Loves Gun Control?

You might want to skip through the first 30 annoying second start to this 'commercial.'  It's a satirical comment on how criminals view the mush-headed thinking that banning guns will make honest people safer.

I should caution you, there is some objectionable language and some graphic images that flash by at almost subliminal speed.

Thanks for the Warm Welcome Regina!! –By Andrew Dawson

It’s been a month since I packed up the family, all our worldly goods, and moved east to a land full of promise, prosperity and great beauty..of course, I am talking about Saskatchewan in general, and Regina specifically.

The first month in our new city has had ups and downs, but I thought this would be a good time to share with you our first impressions of the city and its people.

Well, that was ugly. The Grey Cup Champion Saskatchewan Roughriders rallied to beat the lowly Hamilton Tigercats by one point.

The good news is the Grey Cup Champion Saskatchewan Roughriders did rally to beat the Hamilton Tiger Cats by one point.  But after a spanking from the Stampeders last week, a lot of fans were looking for a little more.

A Pointless Election And a Predictable Result

He didn’t have a sweater-vest, but it was a warm and cuddly Stephen Harper who accepted the decision of Canadians to give him a larger minority government.

However much Machiavellian scheming may be behind the olive branch of cooperation he extended to the other parties, Harper can blame himself for the fact he doesn’t have a majority. He was facing a weak Liberal leader who wanted to raise taxes. Still, he couldn’t deliver.

These Are Your Choices

And so, after a little over five weeks of a campaign that hardly anyone noticed, it is time for you to cast your vote.

This is an election born of a broken promise; the spirit of the election timing law, if not the letter. It was called for no reason other than Stephen Harper sensed it was the best time politically. Which is standard operating procedure, but he claimed to be different. Which is standard operating procedure.

If They Aren't Really Interested In YOU...

It's less than one week till the election and most people say they are not engaged. And really, as much as I urge (nag)  people to be engaged, I’m having a hard time blaming them.

After all, it’s as though the campaign is happening in some alternate reality.  The stock markets are melting down and do you hear any of the politicians with a clear plan for dealing with this?  Oil prices have plunged by fifty dollars a barrel, yet gasoline prices remain at near record levels. Is any party spending much time talking about this?

When Hope Is Hard Is When You Have To Believe

Now is when real Roughrider fans are counted. The giddiness of having won the Grey Cup and something like 13 of their last 14 games, infected a lot of folks who wouldn't normally consider a watermelon as a choice of chapeau.

Am I the only one who finds it ironic that the anti-government, fiercely pro-business, survival of the fittest capitalists of Wall Street are now lining up to be the world's biggest corporate welfare bums?

And that the anti-regulatory, 'get government off the backs of business' political dimwits who fostered a culture that allowed the credit crisis to develop are the same ones offering what is effectively a socialist solution? The U.S. government has been taking over some of the biggest financial institutions and is offering to take equity in some others.
