OK…this is just getting ridiculous. Why on earth are the football gods looking upon the Saskatchewan Roughriders with such scorn. Is this the price the Rider Nation must pay for celebrating its first Grey Cup victory in years. What must be done in order to appease these gods. Must Eric Tillman shave his head??? Must Worksafe Bob be sacrificed during the 4th quarter stretch(an idea I wholeheartedly endorse btw---am I the only one that finds that thing to be real creepy) or Must Brad Wall take down the sign at the Saskatchewan-Manitoba border reminding all Manitobans what happened last November as they cross into our province. Whatever it is, something must be done. I realize that in every year of football there will be injuries to key players and role players but what we are seeing with the Saskatchewan Roughriders is just downright ridiculous.
Now word from coach Ken Miller that Wes Cates and Jeremy O’Day are the latest to go down…can the heart be ripped out of you right now. Yes, guys are getting ready to return but can this football team hold on. It has been absolutely amazing to see how the team has responded week after week after week with one injury after another slowly whittling its way through the foundation of this squad. When I think of the 2008 Riders, I think of Monty Python and the Holy Grail in the scene where King Arthur is battling the Black Knight. You remember that one don’t you….the Black Knight saying “I’m not dead yet”…his arms are cut off and he’s saying “It’s a Flesh Wound”??? This Rider football team is symbolic of the Black Knight----is it not????

Injuries
I am really amazed that we have won as many games as we have in a really good division without a number of starters.
I hear people say that injuries are an excuse. They are a reason. Starters are starters because they are the best. Rookies are rookies. They have played well but they lack experience which is critical in any sport.
Great job rookies. We have a bright future with you.
I admire our coaches, players, and management.
Well said Mitch. We were so
Well said Mitch. We were so pumped and happy for Stu! Not one but two touchdowns!
I agree the injury situation
I agree the injury situation is unbelievable but so is the coaching in those 1st and goal from the one plays. To never use Szarka in two games is just plain stupid.
Riders Give There All
I was disheartened as i listed to a caller on the Drew Remenda show last night say "the riders were outplayed" in every aspect by BC on Saturday night.
Let me say a few words on this. The riders outgained the BC offence in yards, had more big offensive plays, preasurred, hit, and sacked the BC QB's hard and often at least equivalent in ferocity if not numbers and most importanlty showed more heart and grit than the visitors.
With a limited starting staff, missing Cates and O'Day for significant portions of the game, and several early turnovers, the riders did not go away. they made the game exciting and thats why we came and stayed and cheered.
I was as livid as the next fan at the unfortunate outcome due to untimley turnovers and apparent missed calls, but the bottom line is win or lose this rider team was not and is not outplayed.
Thanks Riders for giving it all you've got.
