--Is there any better place to be in Canada than being in the vicinity of the building that sits on Piffles Taylor way on game day???

--If they can call the Bell Centre in Montreal "the phonebooth" and if they can call Air Canada Centre in Toronto "the hangar", can we refer to Mosaic Stadium (Taylor Field)as "The Potash Pit"

--Its just one week but can someone let the Hamilton Tiger-Cats know that its about time they became competitive again. Their performance against Montreal was absolutely putrid

Breaking It Down

The CFL season starts tonight and it should be a year of intrigue across the league as all teams have questions going in. Here's the way I see it shaking down at the end of the regular season

WESTERN CONFERENCE

1. BC LIONS (12-6)  - They still have the best team on paper. Guys like Simon, Smith, Murphy, Clermont, Miles, Johnson and Banks still make this team a solid favourite to be in Montreal November 23.

As I'm sure you all know, one of the great minds when it comes to humour has died as George Carlin passed away on the weekend at the age of 71. He had many great bits including this one in which he outlines the difference between football and baseball. Here it is....

Here We Go Again

The regular season hasn't started yet and already there are some in the Rider Nation pushing the panic button because of last night's 37-7 defeat in Edmonton. Needing a laugh, I checked out Riderville.com this morning to see what fans were saying on the fan board and yes some are up in arms over what happened in a PRE-SEASON game. I know the game wasn't  on TV but I think all media outlets in the province were reporting that guys like Marcus Crandell, Scott Schultz, Gene Makowsky and Wes Cates weren't going on the trip.

I Gotta Disagree With You Jim

Whenever someone asks me about the change in the Saskatchewan Roughriders and how this team changed its image seemingly overnight, I will not hesitate to tell anyone that it starts and stops with Riders president and CEO Jim Hopson. From the first day he took over, he had a vision for this football team and that vision became reality on that magical Sunday evening in November at the Skydome when the Riders captured their first Grey Cup since 1989. Hopson and Eric Tillman have done many great things in their short time here.

Some Advice When It Comes To the World Junior Bid

posted by Mitchell Blair
June 11th, 2008

The bid has been made and now Saskatchewan waits to see if the World Junior Hockey Championship will come here in either 2010 or 2012. The main draw will obviously be Canada and it will be interesting to see the interest in whatever city does not draw the host country. Neither Saskatoon or Regina can monopolize the host country. Doing that will just alienate the other city.

NHL Should Capitalize on Tigers Comments

posted by Mitchell Blair
June 7th, 2008

Tiger Woods angered many in the hockey community this week when he suggested that no one is really watching hockey anymore. It sparked some heated comebacks--especially from TSN's Mike Milbury. The NHL should take these comments from arguably the world's most watched figure in sports and run with it at a time when the game is being watched by many more in the US than in the past. Imagine what this commercial might look like. Tiger is getting set to drive it down the fairway when his backswing is distracted by some yelling in the gallery.
