When the story is written in to the history books on this latest dysfunctional edition of Parliament, I hope no one forgets that in reality it was all about the money.

Canada's political parties are legally allowed to dip their hands in to your pockets -- to the tune of $1.95 for each vote they get in a federal election provided they score at least 2% of the nationwide popular vote.  This robin-hooding is so that the partisan hacks can go on to fund the operation of their parties.
