We in the media, like every other Canadian, have been justifiably proud of the young Saskatchewan hockey stars of tomorrow who featured so prominently in the Team Canada win in the World Junior Hockey Championships.

Everywhere you turn there are the names:   Jordan Eberle, Colton Teubert and Dustin Tokarski.  And we're proud of them.

But, during the gold medal game, didn't we hear something about the big defenceman Keith Aulie -- pronounced Olley -- his life on the Saskatchewan family farm and raising Clydesdale horses?

Yes we did.

And all the hype the past few days seems to have overlooked this Saskatchewan hockey hero from Rouleau.

Sorry Keith (and parents Karen and Bill).  And congratulations!

There's a great story on Keith in last week's Winnipeg Sun:   http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Hockey/Junior/WorldJunior/2008/12/28/7866601-sun.html

We're proud of all the

We're proud of all the players and especially the Saskatchewan boys and their families. Thank you for posting the story. Six in Saskatoon!

Keith Aulie

Thanks John for your mention of Keith, we are very proud of him and the whole team. This was a very exciting World Juniors for our family. He is very proud of his "roots" both Rouleau and Saskatchewan. Thanks to everbody for their comments, it was overwhelming and unbelievable. Bill and Karen Aulie

How about the great

How about the great contribution of another Saskatchewan boy, Willie Desjardins?

I'd like to comment on

I'd like to comment on something Wray Morrison said this morning regarding the return of the players to Saskatchewan after the tournament.

He said Saskatoon isn't a sports town and he was disappointed not many people turned up at the airport to greet Tokarski when he got home.

Well a lot of us enjoyed the games, and support the team, but do we really need to show up at the airport to meet kids coming home? How many people can actually go hang out at the airport on a weekday? And, how are you supposed to know where these players are headed? Tokarski isn't from the city of Saskatoon, and doesn't play for the Blades.. so how are we to know he'll be at the JGI Airport and when? Not all people are reporters..

And as far as the tickets not selling very fast for next year's tournament.. It's organized poorly. Who can go to all of the games in the package, and spend that kind of dough?? Only serrrrrious hockey fans will "save up" all year for that kind of package. The marketing of this is silly. Some people would like to go to a game or two.. but not all. I say scrap the package and go game by game.. It'll work out much better.

Saskatoon likes sports too! But people also have lives! haha.. We can't spend the day at the airport and devote over 1000 bucks to tickets!

Regina is a better sports

Regina is a better sports town than Saskatoon. The final should be held in Regina.

WJHC championship to be held in Regina

Would the game be at Mosaic Stadium at Taylor Field?
