Reload your page view by pressing Shift and clicking Refresh at the same time.A few months ago CTV announced -- for many fans of TV's Corner Gas -- the unthinkable: the hit Canadian sitcom was wrapping up production and would come to an end after 6 successful seasons.
Conceived, created and written by Saskatchewan comedian Brent Butt, Corner Gas is filming this summer for the last time at the outdoor set, the faux Dog River in the town of Rouleau, SK. and at the sound stage in Regina where the indoor shots are done. And when this season's episodes wrap production, Corner Gas will air for a 6th season on CTV and then disappear into the prairie sunset.
At the time on JGL we did a listener tribute to Corner Gas and the phones lit up with all sorts of great stories about the enduring value of this show, its comedy and its tie to Saskatchewan.
At the time, Producer Tammy and I talked about putting together a "behind the scenes" look at Corner Gas with the thought that we'd actually do the talk show from the set of the TV series in the final summer of filming. That was then, this is now,
So .... it's off to Dog River for John Gormley Live THURSDAY JULY 10th.
Actually we'll broadcasting from the Ruby -- Lacey's restaurant -- in a booth, surrounded by Ruby-bilia, the big travelling microphone all set up, the phones going with your calls and the cast members dropping in to chat. It will be one last look at this great Canadian success story with a unique Saskatchewan perspective.
Thanks to Producers David Storey and Virginia Thompson for making this happen -- not to forget the inimitable Brent Butt -- and from our end Producer Tammy Robert has worked hard to bring this about. Great job Tam!
Ah, Dog River in July. Wonder if they have unlimited coffee refills.
