U of R astronomer Michael Beech tells our radio show that the likely site of the meteorite that may have come to earth is probably between Edmonton and Lloydminster. Why? Because in Lloyd, like here, the light show was in the western sky. In Edmonton, it was in the east.

Was there more than one?
We saw a huge flash of light near Shell Lake, but it was at around 10p.m. Was there any other reports of meteors?

Hi John, I didn't see the meteor directly because I was driving south of Swift Current when it happened so I actually saw it in my rear view mirror.
What I was going to say was that this was actually the third one that I have seen like this. On our farm during seeding and harvest quite often we work around the clock and the previous 2 that I saw happened in the middle of the night and I don't think they were as big as this last one because I'm sure someone else would have seen them as well.
What I wanted to also bring up was that on all 3 sightings in the minutes just before the larger meteorite lit up the night sky there were several smaller ones. Last night in the time it took me to drive from just south of Swift Current to about 15 miles south I saw several large bright falling stars and I was thinking to myself I wonder if there is a big one coming and sure enough a couple of minutes later for a few brief moments it was daylight out.
All three times that I have seen meteorites like this they appear almost green in colour and they zigzag crazily just before they burn out. If you ever get a chance to witness one it is one of the coolest things you will ever see.

I've seen a green one too, near Weyburn about 10 years ago.
I also saw a fireball in the north, from Regina, last Winter, along with some of my neighbours who were also in the parking lot at the time.
Meteor
The night the meteor zip through the sky our son was flying a Cessna airplane and said that it lit up the whole plane, he and the instructor were quite startled and latter asked the officials what it was to find out it was JUST a meteor. Both my husband and I also saw it from different locations, Quite an experience for all of us.
