One of our listeners, Burk Reiman, told us about his recent escapades as one of three parachutists who landed at Mosaic Stadium during the Riders first home game of the year on June 19th.

Burk appeared on the show with me this morning to talk about parachuting and doing the things we've always dreamed of.  You can see his Mosaic Stadium jump by going to the Rider's site

What Mike Weir Told Me -- Yes We Talked

Name Dropper 101:  I was chatting with Mike Weir the other day and we were talking about Tiger.  I said .... and he said, etc. etc.

Seriously, the pride of Canada on the PGA tour called my studio to chat about his upcoming visit to Saskatchewan next week.  He's doing a big charity day in Saskatoon to help raise money for a Saskatchewan children's hospital.

Fun and Help with WD-40

So the other day on the show, as a listener mentioned the lubricating product WD-40, I wondered aloud "what do the W and D mean?"

As usual, it didn't take very long for one of our listeners to explain that it means "water displacement".

Searching for a rust prevention solvent and degreaser, chemists at a rocket chemical company found a formulation on their 40th try, hence WD-40. The product, used in missile lubrication, was commercialized in the late 1950s.

What's most interesting about WD-40 is the number of ways that folks use it.

Dress to Impress -- Not in Saskatoon

On today's show (Monday), it came out of the blue:  a young caller phoned to question why the City of Saskatoon's boulevards -- especially the ones entering the city -- look so gawdawful, overgrown, strewn with weeds, dandelions and left over winter gravel.

You know, the guy has a point (and we're going to talk about it on Tuesday's show!)

Save Hockey Night in Canada's Theme Song

It's iconic.  4 bars of music that define an important cultural part of Canadian life -- the opening notes of the Hockey Night in Canada theme song.

As the NHL season ended this week it was revealed by a Toronto licensing company that the CBC is about to drop the four decade old, time-honoured HNIC theme song.

Paging All Nurses

It's an e-mail written by a nurse.  The "re" line is "SAHO's Final Offer To Nurses".  And the nurse asks his colleagues to compare and contrast what's being explained in the final offer which nurses will be voting on later this month.

Thought you'd enjoy it.  And, BTW, pass this note along to any nurses you know.  Here it is:

"SAHO's final proposal was made to SUN on Friday May 30/08.
