Those Mutant League games were pretty wild, as Avalanche commented on friday, but those games fit into the NFL Blitz, NFL Street type games, which are all about fun and game play, and there is nothing wrong with that, but I have always been more of a franchise, stats, build up your player type of gamer.
Some other games that had to be cut, even though I love them very dearly :
RBI baseball - First game to get an MLB liscence
Baseball Stars - You were a huge nerd if you got into this game, it was the first one I can remember that involved player development, as well as a franchise mode, complete with salarys, and the ability to build your team around either pitching, fielding, speed, or hitting. I wasted entire summers trying to build my prestige, rather then chasing girls.
Madden NFL 97 - The first to introduce franchise mode for the Madden series.
NHLPA 93 - How awesome is this game, Click here to find out - www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0xemrRYMQw
Ok, back to the countdown.
3. Mike Tyson's Punch Out -NES

I got this game with my Nintendo, the magical Christmas of '87. Spent many hours trying to be as good as my brothers, I never did get that good, but this game was so fun to play, and it was the godfather to the incredible Fight Night franchise.
Your name is Little Mac, you and your trainer Doc Louis start out in the minor circuit , then try to climb your way to the Dream Bout with Iron Mike Tyson. (Who is so big, he takes up 2 thirds of the screen.) You gotta defeat a lot of wild opponents on your road to the top, including my favorites, Glass Joe, King Hippo, Don Flamenco, Piston Honda, Bald Bull, Mr. Sandman, and Super Macho Man.
Gary's Tip - When your in-between rounds, hammer on the select button to boost your power back up, as well, you think your the best?? Face the champ, here's the code - 007 373 5963.

2. MLB 08 - The Show - PS3

This is the game that I am currently addicted to, and will be till my man Drew's game (NHL 2K9) comes out. So why is this one so good? The Road To the Show feature is better than a cold Teddy Brewsky on a scorching hot day!
You start out by making your player, choosing position, how you look, either batting stance or pitching style, then you get a certain amount of points to put towards different things like arm strength, hitting power, that sort of thing, and then the game gets super awesome.
You get to pick an organization, then you go to spring training, and depending on how you do there, you get sent to either, single A, double A, or triple A, (Just like in real life.) Then it's a battle to climb the organizational ladder, sometimes you get a quick call up due to injury, but for the most part, you just got to impress the organization to make the big bucks. This game is incredible! I finally get to live my dream of being a pro ball player, but with out any of the hard work, which is exactly how I like it.
Gary's tip - I found the two best positions to play are pitcher and third base.

And now, the moment you have all been waiting for, the best sports game of all time
1. Tecmo Super Bowl - NES

This game was the sequel to the groundbreaking origional, Tecmo Bowl. The game was the first to strike a deal with the NFL to use real teams and real player names. Super Bowl was better because every team was used (only half the teams were in the origional) and instead of 4 plays to choose from, Super had 8.
So the game is just so freaking awesome, real players, real teams, season mode, everything a young nerd like myself could ever want in a video game. If you haven't played it yet, please find a way to do it before you die, you will be a better human because of it. I can't really explain it any better, number 1, enough said.
Gary's Tip - If you like to run, take the Raiders, Bo Jackson is unstoppable. If you like to pass, Warren Moon and his Houston Oilers are probably your best bet. As far as defence goes Lawrence "don't smoke crack!" Taylor and the Giants are about as good as it gets.
First off, the greatest video game commercial of all time - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkMvivzSLk8
Now some gameplay - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PBvOxicz-0
So there you have it, one man's list, looking back at it, I am pretty happy with how it looks, the best part is, I still play these games all the time, I am one lucky guy. So now the only hard part is deciding what to play tonight?

Nickel....this just proves
Nickel....this just proves how stupid you actually are. Mutant League Football needs to be top three at the very least, I mean bottomless holes on the field? Chainsaw murders? Not to mention mutant nets that have the ability to eat any roaming skaters that are skating in areas they clearly shouldn't be skating in.
Shame on you for missing this classic, as well as it's wonderful sister-game, Mutant League Hockey
