Cue “Party Train” by The Gap Band… How about a train running from Saskatoon to the gates of Taylor Field at Mosaic Stadium for Rider games?
Think of it – load ‘em up in Toon Town – melon heads, party people, and Rider fans in general – a half a dozen licensed rail cars, and one hell of a ride! Make stops in Davidson, Chamberlain, or wherever the train tracks actually run (30 mins into the trip most people won’t know or care where they are stopping) and keep loading them up.
Then, a tailgate party for a couple of hours before the game. Maybe not every game of the season – but what about making the run for The Labour Day Classic? Back to Toon in sleeper cars, and Bob's your uncle.
The Riders are enjoying phenomenal support and success – why not use this opportunity to start a new tradition?

I have been telling people that this would be a great idea for a couple years now. Though it might be a little tougher now that CN is abandonning the tracks between Saskatoon and Regina.

There is a group working on this as we speak. Not so much for the Riders, but it could definitely help the cause. Line up some lobbyers...might help.

That is an awesome idea! You could also do that as a private party car\cars in Regina prior to a game (tailgate party indoors) and transport those fans to the game from a location in Regina in order to cut down on traffic.
Imagine a 2 high speed
Imagine a 2 high speed trains going in opposite directions going in a loop Regina>>Saskatoon>>Edmonton>>Calgary.....repeat and rinse.
Tracks are not passable anymore Regina-Lumsden
From what I've seen of the CN tracks from NW Regina all the way to Lumsden, they are not passable anymore. And CN isn't going to foot the bill for a party train. As sad as it is, those tracks are now as history as the traditional grain elevators that used to dot the horizon.
train travel
Train travel might be a good idea just need soom more support . How about a loop from Prince Albert to Saskatoon to Regina to Calgary to Edmonton to Prince Albert, Like the other blog On August 27th, 2008 2 hi-speed tracks ,wouldn't that open the west... John
I believe the idea is great.
I believe the idea is great. I once thought about it, but it never crossed my mind that some day someone with influence in our social life will get to make it happen for real. I am sure that it will be a real success, given the fact that it already has a lot of fans.
