When was the last time you changed  your PIN number?? I hadn't given it much thought until I spoke with a member of the Saskatoon City Police Fraud Squad this morning. Seems the Saskatchewan Boom has also brought with it those types who like to make big money the easy way...by stealing it. This latest scam is unreal...some thief with big balls distracts a store clerk then switches the store Interac debit pad with one that he has rigged to store your account and PIN info. Then they come back at a later date, switch the pad again, download the details and simply make a new debit card, go to an ATM and withdraw money from your bank account. The latest scam affected nearly 80 people in Saskatoon with close to 60 losing anywhere from a few hundred dollars to thousands of dollars. Solution?? Just like your underwear... change your PIN on a regular basis...simple as that.
