Couple of stories this week that made me think, this is how technology should really work for the average citizen. This morning I spoke with Ryan Lejbak, CEO of  zu.com communications about their new program for the Iphone...its called TimmyMe. Quite simply, if you have an Iphone, the TimmyMe program, (its free), will show you where the nearest Tim Hortons is located, thru the phones GPS. Download it from the Itunes store.

An even smarter use of technology, is the City of Saskatoon now taking parking ticket payments online. Thats what I want technology to do. Allow me to spend more time doing what I want to do...and less doing what I have to do.

What I really want is an i-mug that fills itself on command through wifi while i-sit in a luxurious i-van as it automatically and robotically transports mi-butt to wherever i want to go.

Technology

Brent: This is nothing--wait until every cellphone/BlackBerry/whathave you is equipped with GPS technology. I was at a technology conference a while back and the speaker mentioned that it won't be long now before we are linked to consumerism 24-7. (not that we already aren't!) Imagine this: walking through the mall, passing by Reitman's(or whatever store) and your cell/Blackberry beeps--you look at it and it says "Come into Reitmans, and save 40 percent off all skirts!"

Or how about this--walking into Home Depot, running YOUR scanner that is on your cellphone/Blackberry, and then with a few clicks, being able to compare the exact same item with various stores around the city/province/country that also offer that item to see if you are getting the best deal. Small things won't matter much, people will buy them because they are at the store already. But bigger items--furniture/washers/dryers/cars/RVs--people will drive across the city or across the province if they think they can get a better deal. The marketing possibilities are endless and the demand is there since society's appetite for better/faster service will never fade.

I wish

Wish it was available for my Blackberry
